The Director of Clinical Research will develop and oversee all aspects of Clinical Research at multiple Forefront Dermatology locations. This includes, but is not limited to: program design and development, administrative leadership, strategic and financial planning, operational management, and quality and compliance oversight. This position will manage Forefront Clinic Research Managers and staff at multiple offices.
Responsible for development of clinical trial research function at select Forefront clinics in collaboration with physicians and executive leadership:
Creates multi-year strategic plan and budget, including identification of principal/sub-investigators, sites, pipeline of studies, start-up costs, annual operating expenses, central vs. local resource plan, etc.
Develops and implements all related policies and procedures.
Develops and implements training programs.
Develops roles and responsibilities of research related positions and plays key role in interviewing and candidate selection.
Evaluates current and other Clinical Trials Management Systems, as well as records management tools. Recommends appropriate system for Forefront and implements across all research offices.
Outlines start-up facility and equipment requirements and costs and leads selection of equipment and vendors.
Develops and implements metrics to measure and evaluate progress, performance and costs, and make recommendations for improvement.
Assists the executive leadership team in conveying to Forefront physicians and all members of the organization the benefit of clinical research as it relates to Forefront Dermatology’s mission and vision. Assists in development of communication materials as needed.
Responsible for clinical trial recruitment and management for all sites:
Develops and maintains relationships with CRO’s and Sponsors in collaboration with Forefront physicians and providers.
Solicits research studies and market Forefront research clinics to CRO’s and Sponsors.
Reviews and negotiates clinical trial agreements, documents and budgets, ensuring appropriate compliance and legal review, as well as fit with strategy and business plan.
Acts as point of contact for third parties such as Institutional Review Boards, Clinical Trial Management System vendors, etc.
Directs and oversees program marketing efforts in collaboration Forefront marketing team.
Attends dermatology and clinical research industry events for networking and ensures that Forefront is represented at these events.
Directs and oversees recruiting of study subjects.
Responsible for all aspects of Operational Management of Clinical Research Functions at all Forefront research locations. (Either through direct involvement, or through reporting relationships with on the ground clinical research staff.)
Responsible for oversight of competency based training and education, and performance management of all staff participating in research related functions. Responsible for the review and approval of research billing compliance and oversight in conjunction with compliance and legal departments or contracted third party support.
Maintain knowledge of competitive or state-of-the-art technologies and applicable regulatory requirements. Serves as the resource for federal, state and local regulations regarding conducting research.
Responsible for effective financial management of research operations and annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Finance and Accounting team.
Provides regular reporting / updates to executive leadership on research program performance and metrics.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Travel to other Forefront research facilities once per month minimum, or as otherwise evolves, is required.
Demonstrated leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and in response to organizational change.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
