About The Ridge:
The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a dynamic and talented Health Information Management Records Clerk. Located in Lexington, KY, the heart of the Bluegrass, The Ridge Behavioral Health System offers a healing environment that is reassuring to a patientsâ€™ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge Behavioral Health System is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and chemical dependency (drug & alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The HIM Records Clerk, faxes or mails discharge paperwork to the next level provider(s), files reports in chart, files completed charts in permanent file room and shift, assembles discharged chart in appropriate order, assists staff in retrieving charts and files back after usage, completes physician timeliness log, performs discharge chart analysis, copies and mails releases after appropriate release, abides by hospital and departmental procedures, and other duties as assigned by the Medical Records Director.Â
Position Specific Competencies:
Files lab reports as necessary and on a regular basis.
Files psychiatric and psychological evaluation as they are completed.
Files transcribed information as the documents are completed.
Labels chart with appropriate date.
Reviews, evaluates and processes release of information requests.
Assembles discharged chart in appropriate order
Faxes or mails discharge packet to the next level provider(s)
Information is checked before release to assure proper procedure is followed
Processes release of information as requested by the Medical Records Director.
Seeks the direction of the Medical Records Director when questions arise regarding releases of information.
Assists physicians and staff with medical records questions, problems and requests.
Is receptive to direction and feedback from supervisor.
Responds openly and supportively to changes.
Consistently respects the confidential nature of patient and organization information; follows release-of-information policies & procedures; refrains from improperly divulging patient or organization information.
Follows-up on return mail, phone calls, requests from other departments.
Provides outpatient medical record services willingly as assigned.
Answers the department phone promptly and is polite and helpful with their requests; takes and routes messages as necessary; refers persons to the appropriate staff member for questions or requests which cannot be fulfilled.
Demonstrates effective time-management skills; organizes work so that critical assignments may be completed promptly, accurately and thoroughly.
Follows-up on tasks or assignments requiring further attention.
Accepts feedback regarding performance in a reasonable non-defensive manner.
