South Texas Health System (STHS) is a network of six acute care hospitals and one behavioral health hospital that together provide care for patients throughout South Texas. The hospitals are accredited by The Joint Commission and offer a comprehensive range of healthcare services including cardiovascular, maternity and women's health, neuroscience, emergency and surgical care, along with specialty programs in transplant, stroke, chest pain, asthma, pediatrics, diabetes, wound care, bariatrics and rehabilitation. Our hospitals include: McAllen Medical Center, McAllen Heart Hospital, Edinburg Regional Medical Center, Edinburg Children's Hospital, Edinburg Regional Rehab Center, South Texas Behavioral Health Center and Cornerstone Regional Hospital. POSITION SUMMARY: The Graduate Nurse Apprentice (GNA) has completed a program from an accredited school of nursing and is awaiting permit to practice in the State of Texas as a graduate nurse. The GNA is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and the nursing education program of South Texas Health System. The registered nurse acts as the preceptor and mentor and should be present at all times to provide guidance, and assist the student to gain knowledge of policies and judgment necessary to perform professional nursing services. Must demonstrate Service Excellence standards at all times.
