This position is located at the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine & Surgery and Department of Navy. The primary role of the selectee is to support workforce readiness and the provision of diagnostic and preventive care services provided in a highly specialized area that encompasses Hearing Conservation Program implementation and management procedures, and requires Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System data management and analysis.
You will apply new approaches and advanced methods in evaluation, treatment, management, rehabilitation, and resolution of patient assignments;
You will incorporate state-of-the-art evidence based practice and scientific principles in the differential diagnosis, treatment and management of unprecedented auditory disorders;
You will use sound judgement in applying diagnostic procedures and techniques to assess and determine appropriate etiology and disposition plans;
You will conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiological assessments and procedures, and make critical patient medical qualification and disposition determinations;
You will serve as subject matter expert and provide management and oversight of Hearing Conservation Programs and hearing loss prevention efforts in collaboration with multiple internal and external professionals;
You will provide assessment data reports to Commanding Officers and Safety Managers regarding adherence to regulatory requirements, hearing injury rates, OSHA recordable hearing losses, and other program performance measures and metrics.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Audiologist providing occupational audiological care, hearing conservation services, environmental noise control, and participating as a team member for program reviews; evaluating, managing, and counseling an expansive range of patient populations including those involving auditory dysfunction associated with traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorders.

Do you possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification? Failure to possess this certification will result in an ineligible rating. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume or support documents.
Do you possess Board Certification through either a Certificate of Clinical Competence (Audiology) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA-CCCA), or certification through the American Board of Audiology?
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
A graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice that was approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time my degree was obtained. AND
A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
