Works under the direction and supervision of a registered licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist to aid in the total rehabilitation of program participants by conducting non-professional aspects of treatment. Assists therapists in treatment activity as noted in the Physical and Occupational Therapy Practice Acts and performs supportive duties to ensure efficient provision of therapy services.
Reports directly to the Rehabilitation Supervisor.

Demonstrates ability to perform duties in a self -directed manner with minimal supervision or direction and ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
Demonstrates basic computer skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Health or rehabilitative facility aide experience and/or training preferred.
Minimum two months on the job to become familiar with treatment techniques, modalities, basic anatomy and disease processes required.
Current CPR or ability to obtain certification within six months after date of hire required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to perform medium daily work with sporadic heavy lifting, as this is a direct care position. Must be able to climb (especially stairs and ramps) and guard/assist participants while climbing stairs/ramps. Other physical abilities that are imperative include: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, and must have good depth perception to adequately perform duties.
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, therapy/wellness suite, occasionally in participant's home and in the community. Must be able to work with electrical equipment such as kitchen appliances and modality equipment. May be exposed to environmental hazards, infectious diseases and chemical agents (see MSDS); sharp objects; fluctuating noise levels; disagreeable odors; frequent interruptions and agitated or emotionally distraught participants and families.
