Participates in the development and maintenance of modules for ingesting, processing and integrating real time and batch data in a big data environment. Writes complex code for a Big Data distributed computing environment using Java, Scala or similar object-oriented programming languages. Maintains continuing education on the ever-changing development tool sets.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with other technical staff to complete assignments.
Implements code and documents all system changes based on assignments.
Programming for a Big Data distributed computing environment using Java, Scala or similar object-oriented programming languages.
Programming data processing and integration algorithms on the Apache Hadoop, HBase stack.
Collaborates and participates in the design and implementation of various projects.
Responsible to document all changes completed on the system within designated timeframes.
Responsible for following department coding/programming guidelines to produce efficient routines. Provides preliminary code review, testing, debugging, and general testing instructions.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Solid understanding of scripting languages (bash/shell, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, etc.)
Solid understanding of OOP, relational databases and SQL.
Demonstrates proficiency with common object-oriented programming languages (Java, Scala, C++, etc.)
Demonstrates the ability to work well in a medium sized team with effective technical communication skills.
A passion for producing the highest quality work.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferred Experience: One year of experience in information technology
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree

Will be working in an office environment. Will be working on a personal computer 80% of the work day. May be required to travel off site for projects and /or meetings
