Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Responsible for the performance of tasks related to project completion, including but not limited to: analysis, testing, documentation, training, problem resolution and implementation of an application. Provides input and assists in developing project plans.
As an EHR Analyst you will:
Develops a strong understanding of assigned applications and can demonstrate a proficiency in navigating through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Meets with relevant personnel to gather information and observe the workflows in question.
Understands the current and proposed standard workflows but also able to identify alternative workflows being utilized by the end-users.
Demonstrates the understanding of both the current and proposed workflows and can document the workflows using a flowchart format. Is capable of performing testing of both workflows, including scenario-based and parallel testing.
Applies critical thinking to problem solving and strives to understand the root cause of the issue.
Communicates effectively with fellow team members, end users, his/her supervisor, project managers, and leadership. Provides regular updates regarding work status via standard documentation tools and/or huddles, meetings, etc.
Complies with the HIT Team’s standards for documentation as it relates to: Project Plans, Testing Scenarios, Build Documentation, Decision Tracking, and System Upgrades.
Understands and complies with the organization’s requirements for change management, system security, and application/device onboarding.

Work as a team and strategize at each integration point within and across the various HIT applications as well as the integration points with other downstream systems.
Explore opportunities to optimize the system build and/or the end-user workflows in an effort to gain efficiencies and streamline work processes.
Assists in developing the skill set of the System Analyst Associate and Trainee.
Assists with the planning, testing and documenting of application upgrades.
Provides support for specific applications, support requirements could be 24 hours/7days, dependent on application.
Understand the integration and technical requirements of peripherals and devices that interface with or integrate with assigned applications. This includes items such as laboratory instruments, radiology modalities, medication cabinets, and scanners.

Demonstrates analytical ability and prefer a general understanding of the health care industry.
Demonstrates ability to interact with senior level management, as well as project participants.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, Mathematics, Physics, Musical, Art, Finance, Healthcare, Chemistry, Biology, or related field required. Minimum of one year of experience in systems design or detailed E.H.R. application experience required.
Associate degree Computer Science, Information Science, Healthcare administration, Education, Mathematics, Physics, Musical, Art, Finance, Healthcare, Chemistry, Biology, or related field required. Minimum of two years of experience in systems design or detailed E.H.R. application experience required.
In lieu of degree, minimum of three years of experience in systems design or detailed E.H.R. application experience required.
If a suitably experienced candidate cannot be found, applicants who meet the basic qualifications but possess fewer years of experience will be considered for hire at a lower level. Salary would commensurate with experience.
