Nemours is seeking a Patient Scheduling Coordinator (Therapy & Rehab Services), FULL-TIME, to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.
Accurate and proficient scheduling of appointments for all outpatients to the Department of Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Services. Acts as a liaison between referring doctors, hospitals, insurance companies as well as for patients and parents. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
In collaboration with lead scheduler, act as a resource preceptor for all new and existing program staff.
Responsible for collection of accurate patient demographics and insurance information; handling incoming calls in a timely and expeditious manner; scheduling appointments for the Outpatient Therapy Services Department.
Coordinate and schedule appointments with other Hospital departments as necessary.
Participate and represent scheduling in strategic planning process.
Take patient referrals by phone, electronically, walk down, or mail.
Enter information in referral log and adhere to response time guidelines.
Communicates all procedure related prep information to families directly during the scheduling process.
Mails reminder letters/prep instructions to families after entering appointments.
Maintains responsibility for the organization of the scheduling office so that a neat appearance is presented to customers making appointments.
Replies to all voicemail messages within a timely manner during normal operating hours.
Schedule new patients with the appropriate provider.
Provide travel directions when requested.
Triage calls and transfer them to the appropriate department or service as necessary.
Remain current regarding specifics for Managed Care contracts accepted by the hospital.
Embraces other duties as assigned to support the Nemours vision/mission.
High School Diploma required. Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school).
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience required.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 codes and medical terminology.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
