JOB SUMMARY The Psychometrist 1 performs a variety of duties involved in administering and scoring patient psychological and neuropsychological tests, under the directions of a Psychologist and in accordance with established policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Administers various routine individual psychological tests and test batteries in a controlled environment to patients to measure clinical factors such as intellectual functioning, presence and extent of organic involvement, personality assessment, psychopathology and differential diagnosis. Scores tests using appropriate reference tables and keys, and drafts test profiles. Schedules the time and place for test administration, ensuring that inpatients referred for testing are seen in a timely manner. Explains testing procedures and objectives to subjects, and works with subjects to facilitate compliance with protocol and procedures and to ensure appropriate test completion. Observes patient during and after testing, records behavioral observations and reports to psychologist any information that may affect the validity and significance of test results. Maintains interface with physicians, psychologists and related hospital personnel. Documents tests results and maintains accurate records. Develops reports summarizing test results. Ensures confidentiality of test results and recommendations; maintains security of testing materials. Participates in research through the systematic collection, preliminary analysis and reporting of psychometric research data, using standard protocol. Maintains testing supply inventories. Provides clinical documentation of patient information. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Knowledge of psychological and behavioral test scoring protocol, procedure, and standards. Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices and protocols. Knowledge of supplies, equipment and inventory control. Requires good verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in the administration of a wide range of standardized psychological and neuropsychological tests. Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software application. Requires good analytical, evaluative and critical thinking skills. Requires good interpersonal skills to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
