The incumbent practices as an RN within Patient Care Services for the float pool for Montana VA Health Care System at Fort Harrison, MT. The incumbent supports the mission and vision of the health care system. This is an open continuous announcement. We accept applications for this occupation on an ongoing basis; qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies become available. The Float Pool Staff Nurse is a registered nurse assigned to work on various inpatient units including the Medical/Surgical, Behavioral Health, Intensive Care Unit, Same Day Surgery, Infusion Clinic, Emergency Department and Fort Harrison outpatient departments. As a supplemental staffing resource, he/she provides direct patient care for assigned patients through collaboration with nursing staff, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members responsible for patient care as assigned. The Float Pool Staff Nurse provides care and counseling of persons and in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process. This includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgement, and evaluation of human response to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health, teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments. The nurse's primary responsibility is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). Additional duties include maintaining competencies for all cross trained areas. This nurse will be self-directed in completing orientation and on-going mandatory education, actively participating in annual competency assessment and validation.
