The Birmingham VA Healthcare System is recruiting for a temporary Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Orthotic Fitter. The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Orthotic Fitter performs independently, repairing and fitting of orthotic appliances Assist in the fitting, training, transport and issue of ambulation aids and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) devices provided by the physical and occupational therapy staff. Assist therapists and assistants with patient exercise treatments and modality treatments as needed. Take measurements of body and limb segments appropriate to the item being fit, and select an off the shelf item, sized appropriately with appropriate model or design, to the patient and apply the item to body and limb segment, adjusting as required. Enter progress notes of delivery and all patient and medical team contacts. Order and maintain supplies and equipment in the physical and occupational therapy department. Assist the Rehab Coordinator in seeing that the clinic runs in a professional and orderly manner. Transports patients to/from therapy treatment areas as needed. Take Vital Signs: Blood Pressure, heart rate, etc. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am -4:30pm- Rotational weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required based on needs of the facility. Work requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, lifting and repositioning patients, or similar activities.
