This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Dialysis Unit nurse is a direct care provider whose scope of practice includes providing complex nursing care for the patients at the Dialysis Unit and Dialysis Clinic. The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to a chronically ill population and dialysis care for acute patients in ICUs. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strict adherence to sterile technique, infection control and safety practices. Training and competency with highly technical equipment i.e. dialysis machine, portable RO machine, crit line and transonic machine. Demonstrates training and competency with RME/DME equipment. Accurate usage of emergency/resuscitative equipment Provide total care for the patient while in dialysis Provide care to acute and chronic hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients. Primary nurse for chronic dialysis patients. Responsible for assessing, planning, documenting, and evaluating patient care and case management. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 7:00 pm (NOTE: Shift may include Holidays and on-call rotations. 8 and 10 hours shifts available depending on patient care needs.)
