The Senior Social Worker is a member of the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences (MHBS) Service Line of the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System (NAVAHCS), located at the Prescott, Arizona Domiciliary and serves as a clinical expert in Serious Mental Health and Substance Abuse. The incumbent's primary responsibilities are to provide expert clinical services in mental health with expertise in serious mental illness, to include Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or Substance Abuse. The Senior Social Worker provides consultation which includes comprehensive psychodiagnostics assessments ad evidence-based interventions, consultation to other residential medical and mental health providers, community outreach and resource coordination to facilitate seamless mental health treatment of Veterans in Yavapai and surrounding counties. The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing expert mental health assessment and psychotherapy services for Veterans, ensuring compliance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA), NAVAHCS, and VA Mental Health initiatives. Participating in direct Veteran, family and Caregiver assessment and treatment to identify and assess risk, safety, supports and the development and application of evidence-based clinical treatment interventions. Advising and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams throughout NAVAHCS and other relevant VA facilities regarding psychatrically and medically complex and/or high-risk Veterans. Providing referrals to VA mental health, medical and other services (e.g., Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, Homeless programs, Inpatient psychiatric treatment, Home-Based Primary Care), as well as other community resources, services, and programs. Serving as a social worker liaison between the VA and community agencies within the NAVAHCS catchment area. Assisting with data monitoring to measure the efficacy of the mental health services to the Domiciliary and in reporting this information to MHBS, NAVAHCS, and VA Central Office (VACO). Work Schedule: Includes weekends, tour of duty and work schedule will be dependent on whether applicant works a compressed work schedule (e.g., Sunday-Thursday, Tuesday-Saturday, etc.) Compressed/Flexible: Available after completing at least 90 days continuous service.
