Overview:
Responsible for providing assistance and guidance to individuals and their families experiencing medical and/or psychosocial crisis precipitated by their illness or subsequent developments. Provides a variety of services that may include but are not limited to: disposition services, information and referral services, financial counseling services, protective services, individual, group, family and marital/couples therapy for patients in an outpatient setting, and their families. Coordinates therapy needs for assigned patients/clients.
Qualifications:
Education: Master degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology. Licensure: Licensed clinical soical worker (LSCW), licensed professional counselor (LPC), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), or licensed psychologist. For the inpatient unit we will consider masteros of social worker (MSW) or licensed associate counselor (LCA) under supervision while working towards full licensure. Experience: Previous psychiatric experience. Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Card or complete a course within thier probation period. Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of a variety of therapy interventions, including brief therapy and psychiatric disorders; skilled in therapeutic communication and conflict management; able to defuse potentially violent situations, possess superior interaction and critical thinking skills and sound judgment. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Usually works in clean, temperature-controlled environment. Walks, stands and sits most of the time. May be required to work differing shifts, days, and schedules based on patient care needs. Requires walking, traveling to various areas of Health Center to provide services. Equipment Used: fax, copier, telephone (including speakerphone), pager, computer, phone dictation system, wheelchair, audiovisual equipment
