The OB Nurse Navigator (OBNN) coordinates patient care before and after delivery. The OBNN provides individualized support to patients serving as their resource and advocate. The OBNN collaborates with Patient Education, Women and Infants, Ambulatory Care Clinics and other departments throughout Harris Health System and ensures that women have full, equitable and convenient access to the clinical services they require and to the women-sensitive health education information needed to make informed decisions about their care.

The OBNN participates in quality improvement, research processes/utilization and community activities. The OBNN role models professionalism and promotes a customer-friendly environment by utilizing ServiceFirst behaviors while interacting with patients, families, and staff members.

The OBNN will work in partnership with the maternal substance use program at Ben Taub to ensure patients are supported during and after pregnancy and throughout their treatment for SUD. Nurses with experience with vulnerable populations, harm reduction, community outreach, and/or addiction medicine are ideal candidates. The Navigator will collaborate with the clinical team to engage pregnant and postpartum women with SUD in treatment and support their care delivery. The position involves the inpatient, outpatient, and community setting.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Licensure/Certification:
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas, Related specialty certification required within two years of employment.
Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.

Work Experience: Three (3) - five (5) years of nursing experience, ii. Two (2) years minimum experience as inpatient/outpatient OB staff nurse.

Equipment Operated: PC and typical medical equipment related to job duties.

Special Requirements
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact).
Writing /Composing: Correspondence, Reports.

Other Skills: Medical Terms, PC, Word Proc., Epic

Language- Spanish (preferred)

Advanced Education:
Advance Training-Certification in related specialty area within two years of employment.

Bachelor's Degree -Major: Nursing

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm, Travel.
